Our Grounds Crew is responsible for assisting with grounds maintenance on the Walworth County campus and in the three off campus County parks. Seasonal crew members will operate various types of machinery and equipment while meeting departmental safety policies and procedures.
SCHEDULE
Our seasonal positions are flexible and may work a full-time, 40-hour per week schedule or a mutually agreed upon part-time schedule. Normal operating hours for the Public Works Department are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with the possibility of working outside of this schedule to meet the work demands. These are limited term positions with the expectation of working no more than 1200 hours in a year.
The duties of this position include:- Perform basic landscape and lawn care duties, such as mowing designated areas, planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass seed, manual weed removal, and pruning.
- Clean buildings and restrooms and stock facilities as required.
- Operate various light machinery and equipment.
- Repair, maintain, paint and/or stain park buildings, structures, signs, and equipment.
- Remove garbage, litter, and debris from buildings, parking lots, and grounds.
- Show respect and be willing to assist the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate a commitment to County safety and risk management efforts.
Candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively and exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact when dealing with the general public.
- Ability to operate County vehicles in a safe and defensive manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, the public, vendors, and outside agencies.
- Prompt and regular attendance is essential.
