Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13districts across the state. The Tennessee Department of Correction operates safe and secure prisons and provides effective community supervision in order to enhance public safety.

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for regional oversight, measurement, and support for the TDOC Facilities Management and Maintenance teams at the Middle Tennessee facilities:

• Daily oversight, planning and reporting of the agency facility management program
• Adult correctional institution regulatory compliance measurement and inspection
• Technical assistance & coordination of correctional facility and community supervision, agency owned assets and care program

Planning & coordination of departmental budgets for facility and property management The quality of maintenance programs that support the Tennessee Department of Correction operational facilities insist that agency technical standards guide dedicated professionals skilled in preventative maintenance actions to reduce or eliminate risk within the secure correction compounds. The selected individual will assist the regional Correctional Administrators, Wardens, District Directors and FMM Administrator in all aspects of the planning, budgeting, execution, and operational needs of department owned facilities and their personnel in the Middle region.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Through oversight of correctional facility management and correctional maintenance staff, consistently audits the comprehensive correctional facility management program to ensure safe and secure settings

2.· Reviews and makes decisions on policies and procedures; analyzes and develops correctional facility management program policies, initiatives, and requirements; development of department facility management procedures and policies on a regional basis.

3. Training, auditing, planning, and organizing of facility management and maintenance staff routine or daily activities and practices on a regional basis.

4. Monitors and audits the activities of the facility management and maintenance staff in preventative maintenance practices and long-term asset care through weekly site visits of facility maintenance staff in accordance with Department of Treasury Risk Management and Department of Correction initiatives and policies

5. Maintains constant oversight of correctional facility maintenance staff work practices in a region and assists the Correctional Facilities Safety Manager with initiatives and enforcement of the Department of Correction's Facility Safety and Fire Safety policies and procedures

6. Support and oversight to ensure compliance with the departments security, engineering, environmental, health and safety compliance programs

7. Assist the division director in the long-range planning, submittal, and approval of capital outlay requests, including their development with institution and central office leadership

Required Experience:

Completion of a associates, bachelors or technical degree from an accredited college or university with 5 years of relevant experience in one of the following: correctional institution facility management, engineering, construction management, or related field. Equivalent facility management experience will be considered on a year-for-year basis.

• Minimum 3-years experience in a supervisory role in a related setting
• Experience working with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Adobe and construction project management systems
• Superior organization, problem solving AND MANAGEMENT skills. Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
• Successfully complete a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and preemployment medical screen
