Job Description
We are seeking a Facilities Engineer to join a manufacturing company on the north side of Milwaukee for a direct hire.
Pay: $90,000 - 110,000
Duties and Responsibilities
- Make periodic inspections of work in progress and advises construction supervisors and contractors on interpretation of plans and specifications
- Inspect materials, workmanship, architectural, mechanical, and electrical installations for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Oversee work of and manages contracts with professional architectural and engineering consultants, contractors, utility companies, and property owners
- Assist in the continued development of the Preventive Maintenance Program. This includes initiating new or modifying existing tasks codes, inputting new or replacement equipment, documenting new processes and other related activities
- Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieve environmental conditions
- Oversee and inspects the work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work includes landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbers, electrical, and cleaning
- Maintain an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum
- Estimate cost of projects, and writes contracts and specifications for labor, materials, and equipment for construction projects.
- Consult with architects, engineers, owners, and contractors regarding preliminary layout, construction procedures, and code requirements that apply to building projects.
- Seek, evaluate, monitor, and interact with the outsourced facility contractors to ensure the economical, efficient, and qualified services.
Experience and Skills:
- Completion of an accredited two-year technical college program, in a related field of study, or a four-year university program, in a related field of study; and three to five years related experience or accrued on-the-job training and experience.
- Knowledge of modern building construction methods and materials and their proper usage, including general construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire detection, notification, and suppression systems.
- Understand and utilize general safety knowledge within the work environment
- Ability to communicate technical engineering or architectural information to other engineers, agency employees, contractors, and the public, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with engineers, architects, technicians, contractors, construction personnel, the public, and other agency personnel.
- Ability to analyze situations and make recommendations in such areas as facility design, facility construction, materials to be used, technical drafting, and on-site construction problems
