Job Summary
The Facilities Coordinator helps to maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds of St. Austin Church and School which includes lighting, mechanical, plumbing, landscaping, security, safety, HVAC, some janitorial and garage maintenance. The Facilities Coordinator works with staff, volunteers, and service vendors to manage repairs, service calls and ongoing maintenance. The position reports to the Facilities Manager and operates with some latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.
Job Duties
- Assist Facilities Manager with the day-to-day physical operations of the Church facilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, cleaning ceiling diffusers and grilles, changing out air filters, some painting and drywall repairs, carpet cleaning, floor refinishing, landscaping, sprinkler system, and any other facility needs.
- Assist with maintaining the work order system including a full list of facility components, service schedules, and vendor contacts.
- Support the parish by completing work orders and supporting all aspects of events and campus cleanliness.
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance services provided by vendors, and assign small repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, phones, computers, and carpentry to the appropriate resource.
- Assist with keeping the campus clean such as pressure washing, maintaining floor mats, and other tasks.
- Responsible for security of the facilities including monitoring entry gates, doors, and elevators.
- Occasionally perform event setup and teardown such as setting up tables, chairs, audio/video equipment, putting up or taking down room wall dividers, locking/unlocking doors, and setting HVAC controls. Must have the ability to operate and troubleshoot A/V and sound equipment.
- Follow the comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
- Serve as backup contact for facility maintenance related emergencies.
- Perform property inspections, report damage/maintenance work, and perform repairs as required. Maintain project and service logs.
- Ensure buildings are neat and clean throughout the week.
- Carry out security checks of all facilities throughout the day. Ensure spaces and buildings are secure each evening.
- Adjust work schedule as needed to cover for Facilities Manager and to work weekends and holidays (especially Christmas and Holy Week) as needed
Hours
This is an Exempt Position: working an expected schedule of M-Th 11am-8pm, with an alternating 2 week schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday consisting of Week 1- Friday 7a-4p, Saturday 9am-1pm and Sunday off. Week 2 - Friday and Saturday off, Sunday 9a-1p as coordinated with the Facilities Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED acceptable to Texas Education Agency with preferred three (3) years of full-time wage-earning experience in maintenance duties is required.
- English (proficient in writing, reading, and conversing).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) preferred.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
