Extrusion Operator

Job Description:Job Title: Extruder OperatorShift: Afternoons (1330hrs to 2200hrs)Shift Length: 12 hours (Nonrotating)The Extruder Operator functions as a member of an area team directly responsible for producing quality products in the required quantities. This role will operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. Extruder Operators must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality, and continuous improvement. Extruder Operators must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills to support site objectives.Key Responsibilities:Operate extrusion, drying, coating, cooling, product transfer, and cleaning equipment and systems.Operate production and processing systems in accordance with Mars Petcare Operating.Procedures; in a safe, productive, and efficient manner at all times.Perform Processing operational activity according to production and planning schedules and requirements.Perform required Quality Control checks and/or analysis on each production of processed and coated materials in accordance with Mars Petcare Quality Procedures.Maintain CCPs in the department.Perform the CCP procedure according to SOPs.Perform periodic and routine inventories of raw materials in storage.Provide and perform routine maintenance and checks on equipment.Provide reporting and documentation of Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation activities in accordance with Mars Petcare Operating ProceduresAssist in other production, sanitation, maintenance, and quality activities in other areas as directed.Provide functional communications with other staff members as necessary to optimize quality, efficiency, productivity, and safety.Perform all duties in compliance with Mars Petcare Quality Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.Adhere to all Mars Petcare safety requirements.Perform housekeeping and sanitation procedures in accordance with Mars Petcare’s Food Safety and Sanitation Program.Other duties as assigned.Assist the plant to meet or exceed production goals.Maintain a clean, safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.All associates are responsible for the safety, quality, and food safety in their work area. Physical/Environmental RequirementsStanding on a concrete floorWearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, earplugs, safety shoes, and uniform)Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55lbsMust be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust, dirt, and chemicals.Vision correctable to 20/20Education & Professional QualificationsBe 18 years of age or older.Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent educationMust be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedulesAbility to understand and effectively communicate in the English language. Knowledge / Experience 3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines.2 years of work experience within manufacturing or a technical and/or trade disciplineDemonstrated competency in computer and PC software including MS Office and email.Knowledge of inventory control principlesAbility to operate a forklift and scissor lift.Royal Canin is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
