We are proud of our mission to help our California Taxpayers file accurate tax returns and to fund important state services by maximizing the use of data collected from all sources, ensuring data integrity, and protecting taxpayer privacy with Extract Transform and Load to respective data stores.
As an Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) Developer, you will work independently and collaboratively with teams to design, maintain, and implement the complex data integration services for FTB's enterprise data stores. Apply your comprehensive understanding of the tools and techniques involved in data analysis and data integration such as data warehousing, data consolidation. You will be responsible to provide complex data and ad-hoc query support to business and technical partners throughout the department and build relationships with stakeholders, diverse groups, and team. As a technical subject matter expert, it will be your responsibility to develop expert knowledge of FTB's enterprise systems, data architecture, data sources and data integration best practices. You are expected to act as a leader and work cooperatively with the multiple levels of management and Technology Services Division (TSD) technical staff in support of planning and software implementation activities. Working Conditions
This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. Some in-office presence required.
This position is considered Remote Centered and authorized to work a hybrid telework schedule consistent with the departmental guidelines of two days in office weekly

  • Experience working on large-scale Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) projects.
  • Experience performing detailed analysis, defining technical problems, and recommending effective solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience of ETL process tools such as IBM DataStage and Microsoft SQL server integration services(SSIS).
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL server.
  • Knowledge of Apache Hive or Hadoop Distributed File Systems (HDFS).
  • Knowledge of Big Data or Data Streaming tools such as Java Script Object Notation (JSON), Python, and/or Hibernate Query Language(HQL).
  • Knowledge of validating XML with XML Schemas.
  • Knowledge of Hive data warehouse tool to analyze the data in HDFS and developed Hive queries
  • Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple project priorities and workloads.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills.
