Job Summary
We are continuously working on building a strong compliance program through dedicated team members-with the ability to influence, be proactive, provide world-class training, write guidelines, being the Subject Matter Experts on site- bringing El Cajon to the next level of compliance maturity.
The Export Control Officer is part of the global Export Control Function and will have the overall day-to-day responsibility of Export Control for the site in El Cajon.
Job Responsibilities
• Implement and manage the development, implementation of the GKN Export Control Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program on site- building a strong and robust Export Compliance program on site
• Build strong relationships and contribute effectively and proactively with senior management on site on Export Control and Sanctions matters.
• Determining the need for, and managing export authorizations for you area of responsibility. Preparing and submission of applications and enabling compliance with the provisions of the authorizations, including but not limited to expiration, quantity/decrementation, and license condition flow down.
• Providing general and business specific training and communication on Export Control, in accordance with Export Control procedures.
• Monitoring and keeping up to date with the Export Control regulations of all countries with which the organization conducts business.
• Yearly Risk assessment for the site- working with senior management on any actions and mitigating gaps and risk
Providing any required or requested reporting to the business line ECM, HECC and COO.
• Conducting investigations, preparation of disclosures (where requested), design and implementation of corrective actions and ensuring that corrective actions are closed out.
• Proactively seek opportunity to collaborate with and support the development of the Legal & Compliance function.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with Export Control regulations and sanctions
• 2 years of experience working either in or with the United States defense industry, with a particular emphasis in aerospace.
• 2 years of experience interfacing with State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
• 2 years of experience in the classification of goods, software and technology in multiple Export Control regimes
• 2 years of experience in the submission of export authorization applications in their local region with a knowledge of extraterritorial export authorizations
• Must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to analyze complex business situations and advise on the impact of Export Control regulations
• Can communicate clearly, accurately, confidently and in a timely manner
• Recognizes the importance of building effective relationships, establishing trust and a collaborative working relationship with colleagues both inside and outside of the Export Control function
• Has the ability to work on own initiative to get things done, able to plan organize and prioritize workload, keeping colleagues informed and managing expectations. A completer/finisher who can demonstrate work/life balance
• The capability to identify and work with key internal and external stakeholders. Understands and is able to clearly articulate the key Export Control compliance risks facing the business with appropriate context and recommendations for mitigation
• Identifies opportunities to improve how things are done, makes suggestions and is forthcoming with ideas
