Job Description:
Position Overview:
Our Perishables Export Agent will work efficiently in a team environment to process and secure perishable shipments. Supporting all sales efforts and quotes as assigned by department manager or supervisor.
OCEANAIR will provide you with the tools and teach you the skills you needto succeed as an Export Agent.
Schedule for this position may require weekends on a departmental rotation basis. This position may require working a holiday schedule based on the needs of the operation and requirements of the account.
The standard schedule for this position is 7 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday and every 3rd Saturday.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, and process high-volume and complex export transactions, including booking and billing.
- Promote a positive relationship with the client by ensuring excellent, timely and proactive customer service.
- Monitor shipments to ensure compliance with export regulations and address any issues in a timely manner.
- Process data through the company’s TMS
- Create quotations for individual shipments, including estimating prices for the shipper, selecting transportation companies to use, and setting profit margins for individual shipments.
- Create bills for outgoing shipments and provide clear instructions to the team for handling each shipment.
- Work with Government Agencies to obtain consular releases and other appropriate documentation.
- Assure all communications and events related to specific file activity are captured and copied into electronic notes section in TMS system.
- Ensure shipments of hazardous materials are checked and processed in accordance with all applicable regulations under the International Air Transport Association, Code of Federal Regulations and International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code.
- Process and finalize billings in Transportation Management system and the files. Process and enter costs at time of expenditure in Transportation Management system and the files.
- Notification of exceptions to planned events in a timely manner to manager, customers, agents, and sales staff as appropriate.
- Identify transactions and tasks that require special handling, recommend improved processes to management, and implement resolutions within assigned scope of responsibility.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve all areas of client concern in a timely and proactive manner. Alert client to special areas of concern or potential problems in the export process.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of geography to assist with the day-to-day movement of freight around the world.
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Hazardous certification is preferred.
- Strong numerical skills are required.
- High attention to detail and sense of urgency.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Work Environment:
- Work is performed in an office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work requires close attention to tasks for work to be accurately completed. Intermitted breaks during the workday do not compromise the work. Work requires constant respond to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.
- Sensory Essential Functions include close work, visual examination of paperwork, computer monitor and keyboard use, conversations, telephone and background noise.
- Physical Requirements with reasonable accommodations. Light work requiring exerting up to 20 pounds if force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling. Job consists of sitting, standing, walking, squatting and twisting.
