Experienced Pet Care Attendant (Doggy Daycare)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Daycare Pet Care Attendant to join our team at Bay Paws Pet Resort. Bay Paws Pet Resort offers luxury boarding, daycare, and grooming services at multiple locations in the Tampa Bay area. All boarding suites and daycare play areas are equipped with cameras accessible through our client portal. Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daycare dogs, ensuring their safety and providing a positive and stimulating environment.
  • Ensure daycare areas are sanitized and cared for properly, aligning with service standards and health and safety protocols.
  • Stay informed about dog behavior, body language, and breed-specific traits to better understand and meet their needs
  • Engage in playtime activities, including interactive games, fetch, and socialization.
  • Meet with pet parents prior to the temperament evaluation to gather pertinent information and serve as the main point of contact.
  • Treat basic wellness issues such as superficial wounds and communicate with management when veterinary assistance is needed.
  • Document observations and recommendations from temperament evaluations, track behavior changes, illnesses, injuries, and incidents, and record important customer interactions in our online system.
  • Conduct evaluations for new dogs to assess their fit for group play and provide alternative recommendations and monitor behavior and dynamics in the yard for optimal safety and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and exceptional customer service.
  • Monitor play groups with teammates to provide a safe and fun environment for daycare dogs.
  • Administer basic grooming tasks such as brushing, nail trims, and bathing, as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional animal care experience. This can include volunteer hours and internships. This does not include independently contracted pet sitting positions or owning your own pets.
  • Passion for working with pets and providing exceptional care.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills..
  • Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments in a calm, confident, and compassionate manner.
  • Physical stamina to handle active and energetic dogs, as well as perform cleaning tasks and lift/move equipment.
  • Ability to work outside in Florida weather for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs
  • Basic knowledge of dog training techniques and positive reinforcement methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to administer oral and subcutaneous medications to cats and dogs.
  • Certification in animal training, dog and cat behavior, Pet Care management, obedience, and/or pet first aid.
  • Knowledge of Dog Gurus guide to animal behavior, body language, and basic care practices is a plus.
  • Experience with Pet Exec.

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $14.00 - $16.00/hour.
