Essential Functions/Patient-related Duties:
· Assist in the promotion of products and services provided by Vital Life Wellness Center Performing accurate legal and ethical documentation at all times
· Document patient increase by phone and follow up with the answer to patient
· Refer providers for guidance on phone triage patients
· Follow guidelines in triage manual for guidance
· Accurately record patient interview history and chief complaint an EMR (an electronic medical record)
· Measuring and recording vital signs accurately
· Preparing patients for examinations and performing routine screening tests
· Explaining treatment procedures to patients
· Assist physician/provider with exams and minor office surgery/ procedures
· Perform phlebotomy, collect and prepare laboratory specimens
· Perform basic laboratory tests on the premises
· Dispose of contaminated supplies
· Prepare and administer medications (injections etc…) with physician’s authorizations
· Authorize medication telephone/ electronic refills, as directed by provider
· Prepare patients for x-rays, tests, and procedures process referral
· Perform Electrocardiogram (EKG)
· Change sterile and non-sterile dressings
· Perform other critical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician
· Provide patient education with regards to office policies, medication instruction
· Manage and disease/illness home treatment and special diets
· Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/ her involvement in the plan of care and document inpatient EMR record
· Application of first aid when required
· Instrumentation and sterilization
· Using CPR skills when required
· Maintaining supplies, equipment, stocking, and sterilizing instruments
· Disposing of Biohazard Waste according to OSHA standards
· Practicing OSHA safety standards
Minimum requirements:
· Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
· Certification of Medical Assistant
· Proof of high school diploma or GED graduation
· 2 years of medical office experience desired
