We are a busy, fast-paced family medicine practice seeking a motivated, mature Medical Assistant to join our team. This candidate must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, and be a team player. Ideally, this candidate is fluent in Spanish and experienced in eClinicalWorks in a primary care setting. Pay will be based on experience and skill set.
What you’ll do:
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the providers.
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
- Help providers examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
- Operate electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Set up medical laboratory equipment.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
- Change dressings on wounds.
- Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Submit drug prior authorizations to insurance.
- Call patients regarding lab and imaging results.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Schedule appointments for patients.
- Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
- Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.
- Other administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, coding information for insurance purposes.
