Dr Monica Scheel Dermatology is searching for a reliable Advanced Medical Assistant to assist our expert dermatologists and physician assistants with various skin care procedures and treatments. This role prepares patients for cosmetic procedures, such as Botox injections, laser treatments, chemical peels, and skin tag removals. They also perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, obtaining consent forms, and calling patients with test results. An ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of medical and cosmetic terminology. They should also have experience of working with dermatology equipment and software.

Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Using computer applications for tracking and updating treatments and appointments
- Answering telephones
- Welcoming patients
- Updating and filing patient medical records
- Coding and filling out insurance forms if applicable
- Scheduling appointments for follow-ups or further treatments
- Handling correspondence and answering questions from patients if possible
Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Clean and prepare exam rooms prior to patient appointments
- Taking medical histories and recording updates/changes in patient chart
- Explaining medical and cosmetic treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examination
- Assisting the physician during exams
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens as needed
- Instructing patients about medication and special diets (if applicable)
- Preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed
- Clean and maintain instruments and medical equipment
- Drawing blood (if applicable)
- Removing sutures and changing dressings
- Assist providers and office manager in maintaining medical inventory and placing orders as needed
- Inventory- Ordering medical supplies as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploMA or equivalent
- A certification or diploma in medical assisting from an accredited program
- A current CPR and BLS certification
- At least two years of experience in a medical, aesthetic, or dermatology setting
- 2+ years of CNA experience
- A valid license or registration as a medical assistant/certified nursing assistant in the state of Hawaii
- A knowledge of cosmetic and dermatological procedures and products
- A proficiency in electronic medical records
- A strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for helping people look and feel their best
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the physician with various cosmetic and dermatological procedures, such as Botox, fillers, laser treatments, skin biopsies, mole removals, and more
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients, such as checking vital signs, applying topical anesthesia, dressing wounds, and giving instructions
- Educate patients on the benefits, risks, and expectations of the treatments they receive
- Schedule appointments, maintain records, and order supplies as needed
- Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards in the clinic
- Provide excellent customer service and build rapport with patients by listening to their needs and concerns
Pay: From $20-$25/hr, based on experience. MAs with at least two years of relevant experience as MA/CNA in a healthcare setting are eligible for higher starting pay.
Schedule: Availability Monday through Saturday, 32-40 hour week, 4-5 days a week
