Marian University seeks a versatile and accomplished Executive Vice President and Provost to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity while also recognizing that we are a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith traditions and worldviews.
The next Provost of Marian University will be at the forefront of an academic community that values innovation, inclusivity, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
• Honor the dignity and inestimable value of each person, reflecting the presence of God dwelling among us. Marian University recognizes that each person is endowed with the very life of our Creator, and likewise promotes equality, justice, and solidarity as we celebrate the blessing of rich diversity present within our community;
• The Executive Vice President and Provost will be entrusted with advancing Marian University’s commitment to academic rigor, spiritual growth, and social responsibility. The Provost’s leadership will ensure that every Marian student has the opportunity to flourish, not only academically but as compassionate, ethical, and globally minded individuals.
• Finally, the next Executive Vice President and Provost will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Chancellor, Dr. Kenith Britt and Marian University’s President, Daniel J. Elsener. He/She will provide strategic guidance to our academic deans, support faculty in their research and teaching efforts, and help drive our mission to advance excellence in learning.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing Marian University’s vision, mission, values, and priorities outlined in our current Journey to 2030: Always Forward strategic plan. He/She will foster a culture of academic innovation and ensure the highest standards of excellence in learning. We expect our new Executive Vice President and Provost to (have):

• An earned doctorate in a relevant field;
• Proven experience in academic administration, particularly at a national, doctoral university;
• A strong record of scholarly research and achievement and excellence in teaching;
• A future-oriented approach to education with a focus on emerging trends;
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills to engage with Marian University’s Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, and other various constituencies;
• A passion for nurturing faculty development, research, and creative endeavors;
• Sound fiscal management and resource allocation skills; and,
• Collaborative and courageous decision-making skills.
