Description

We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen team. Hours and schedule may vary. We are not open on Mondays and close at 2pm on Sundays, so having a set schedule of two days off a week is very manageable. We offer health, dental, and vision insurance after 60 days. 80 hours of paid vacation for the year is prorate and available upon hiring. After a year of continuous full-time employment, we offer 120 hours of paid vacation.

Job Purpose: The Executive Kitchen Manager maintains the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards while providing effective leadership to the Kitchen Managers and kitchen staff. Executive Kitchen Managers lead staff, purchase food and stock, and make sure all staff are trained in proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques. The Executive Kitchen Manager is responsible for the overall operations for the back of house and kitchen area of the restaurant. Executive Kitchen Managers oversee and facilitate the preparation and production of all items that support Tiny’s No. 5.

Duties and Responsibilities: The primary job duties and responsibilities of being a Executive Kitchen Manager include but are not limited to the following:

  • Must be passionate about food
  • Oversee execution of all employees and food production the kitchen
  • Makes employment and termination decisions, reviews applicants and schedules interviews for BOH staff
  • Determines hourly employee pay rates
  • Oversee and ensure that Tiny Boxwoods Productions policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed
  • Provides constructive advice to employees, problem solving in difficult situations
  • Training of new employees; knowledge of company rules, policies and procedures
  • Training and supervision of kitchen personnel in safety operations of all kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Develop and cross-train all team members
  • Manage shift labor costs; schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring all positions are staffed when and as needed
  • Completes all required daily paperwork, including manager logs, reports, inventory, checklists and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
  • Responsible for ordering and receiving food products, following health and sanitation standards.
  • Must monitor quality control and guest satisfaction
  • Must ensure employees adhere to sanitation, safety and food regulations
  • Anticipates kitchen needs and fills in where needed to ensure service standards and efficient operations
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Attends and participates in weekly management meetings, bringing suggestions for improvements
  • Controls food portions for a balanced food cost, manages food waste
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work ethic under extreme stress
  • Must treat others with respect at all times
  • Can handle and manage in a fast-paced environment
  • Close attention to detail and consistency
  • Performs up to company standards and expectations for management
  • Must be an example to staff in maintaining a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance, meeting the Pressed and Tailored standard
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language (English)
  • Clear communication both verbal and written
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications: Tiny Boxwoods Productions require the minimum qualifications to successfully perform the position of Executive Kitchen Manager:

  • Culinary and management experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Texas Food Handlers Management certificate
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Flexible availability
  • Capacity to multitask

Working Conditions: The incumbent will be working in a restaurant setting, on the floor with guests, in the kitchen and dish area. Potential hazards include but are not limited to cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent is required to stand/walk for long periods of time. Incumbent is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be able to constantly move around in the kitchen.
