Your impact:
Road & Track seeks a seasoned and creative Executive Editor with excellent management skills and deep cross-platform experience to help shape its editorial vision and develop new and exciting projects. This is a job for an ambitious person with keen editorial skills who can manage staff, develop and implement strategy, and contribute big-picture ideas. This position will play a leading role in shaping the brand's efforts in digital, print, social media, commerce, video, and membership, and will work closely with teams both within the brand and within Hearst to guide editorial coverage across all platforms. The ideal candidate is an idea machine with well-developed editorial, strategy, and management skills.

What you'll do:
- Work with Editor in Chief to create lineups and select writers.
- Collaborate with the editors and the art and photo departments to determine creative direction of content across platforms.
- Edit and top-edit stories and display copy.
- Work with the sales teams on advertising/revenue-generating opportunities.
- Collaborate with the public-relations department to promote stories and issues.
- Help execute multi-platform projects and brand events.
- Support efforts to diversify the voices.
- Partner closely with the audience development team to understand analytics, communicate goals, and strategize to sustain growth across key metrics.
- Work with other Hearst Magazines sites on content sharing and best practices.
Who you are:
- 10+ years of post-grad experience as an editor at a major consumer website or magazine, with both print and digital skills.
- Strong skills as an idea generator and content strategist.
- Detail-oriented, meticulous, collaborative editor, with highly developed ability to craft and tighten copy.
- Experience managing a team.
- Well-connected to both well-known and up-and-coming writers.
- Good judgment as to what works to drive audience engagement and growth in digital media.
- Open to experimenting with content types and persistent reinvention to create compelling content.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or other relevant area.
The base salary for this role is between $147,000 and $176,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
