SCCC- Radiation Oncology is currently seeking a full time Executive Director for Radiation Therapy. The Executive Director for Radiation Oncology, under the general direction of the Associate Vice President, is responsible for the development and supervision of Radiation Oncology satellite operations, projects, reporting, standardization, and budgets. The Executive Director coordinates administrative operations in conjunction with the Manager of Administrative Operations (TBA), Administrative Assistants and Clinical Program Coordinators across all Radiation Oncology satellites. Using data, reports, and analytics, the Executive Director is involved in the development and implementation of hospital strategic initiatives that positively impact departmental services and processes. The Executive Director working closely with the Radiation Oncology UMMG Director of Compliance assists in the development, implementation, and standardization of charging, coding, and billing across all sites. The Executive Director collaborates with Human Resources regarding staffing, compensation, recruitment, job descriptions, and Radiation Therapy career ladders across all sites. The Executive Director for Radiation Oncology develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with Physicians, Administrative Leadership, and other essential personnel to maintain standardized quality service and excellence in patient care across all satellites. The Executive Director for Radiation Oncology reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Radiation Therapy Services.

A. Operational Management

Responsible for the development, supervision, and standardization of Radiation Oncology satellite operations. Works with the Associate Vice President for Radiation Oncology and the appropriate Satellite Administration in the establishment and attainment of long-range goals, objectives, and strategic planning. Uses data, reports, and analytics to help develop and implement hospital strategic initiatives that positively impact departmental services and processes. Coordinates new service lines to be implemented at Radiation Oncology satellites. Works with Facilities and Planning on satellite renovations, expansions and related projects. Oversees Manager of Administrative Operations, Administrative Assistants and Clinical Program Coordinators including their related functions at satellite campuses providing radiation services. Ensures compliance with all provisions of OSHA, ACR, Joint Commission and other pertinent regulatory requirements. Ensures standardization including alignment of policy and procedures across satellite sites. Works with CQI Director to operationalize changes to old processes as well as implementing new processes in order to provide standardization with Main campus and all associated satellite campuses. Works with leadership to help coordinate with facilities, environmental services, and engineering to ensure proper maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of equipment and department. Works with leadership to ensure that supplies, equipment, and staffing needed by the sites department are available. Promotes a culture of service excellence which encourages quality care, enhances the image of the department and institution, and promotes staff retention. Participates as a proactive member of the leadership team by attending and contributing to all pertinent meetings and professional development. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with Physicians and Administrative Leadership, to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems, and initiate new programs. Responsible for coordinating the Radiopharmaceutical programs (lab work, MD visits, authorization, scheduling, ordering, and charging), and collaborating with critical adjacencies (receiving and safe storing of the radioactive material). Assists with the responsibilities of the Associate Vice President for Radiation Therapy Services in his/her absence.

B. Coding/Billing Management

The Executive Director for Radiation Oncology works closely with the Radiation Oncology UMMG Director of Compliance to ensure accurate and standardized charges, coding, & billing across all sites. Assists in the development and implementation of charging practices. Serves as a technical resource for the billing/coding department.

C. Personnel Management

Ensures appropriate staffing based on workload and staff competency. Works with HR and the Associate Vice President for Radiation Oncology to ensure that compensation for staff is equitable within the department and commensurate with market and local competitors to decrease staff turnover and maintain employee satisfaction. Works with HR to remove any recruitment roadblocks and help increase the viable talent pool. Ensures departmental Job Descriptions are accurate and up to date. Works with HR and the Associate Vice President for Radiation Oncology to ensure that clinical ladders are current and viable to decrease staff turnover and maintain employee satisfaction. Ensures awareness of and adherence to hospital-wide and departmental policies.

D. Financial Management

Oversees the proper maintenance of financial and statistical records for the satellites. In conjunction with the Associate Vice President prepares and secures necessary approval and manages operational and capital budgets for the satellites. Responsible for the management, inventorying and purchasing minor/capital equipment, and invoice payment to the department. Prepares and supervises the preparation of various internal financial statistical reports and metrics as required by the department. Monitors ongoing financial performance of the department and takes appropriate corrective action to achieve financial goals. Evaluates new equipment and services, with input from physicians and staff, for cost-effectiveness and operating efficiency; recommends major purchase of equipment and implementation of new services. Assists productivity specialist in setting up weights & standards based off national governing bodies, i.e., ACR, ASTRO, and ACRO.

E. Quality Management

Serves as a resource for the Radiation Oncology department for accreditation & regulatory compliance, patient safety, & Quality Management. Ensures standardization across all satellites. Monitors compliance with regulatory requirements related to Quality Management & patient safety where applicable across all satellites. Helps in the development of processes & materials that promote & standardize quality initiatives, risk prevention, safe work practices, & patient safety. Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent managerial work experience.

Experience:

Minimum three years leadership experiencing leading a Radiation Oncology program in a large healthcare setting.

Strong Background in Radiation Oncology is essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
