Job Description
Inland Empire Latino Lawyer's Association, Inc. (a.k.a. IELLA) Board of Directors is seeking an exceptionally dedicated full time Executive Director to manage their Legal Aid Organization, to continue and improve on our excellent record of meeting the needs of our clients. This is an ideal job for an attorney who wants to join a community based non-profit organization that provides free legal assistance to low-income people in the counties of the Inland Empire.
Reporting to IELLA's Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides leadership and vision to the organization, in conjunction with the Board and is responsible for leading the overall operation and administration of the organization, including supervising personnel, program management, financial management and fundraising. Candidates should possess a strong desire to improve the well-being of low-income residents of the Inland Empire.
Salary range: 70,000.00 - 90,000.00 (compensation commensurate with education and experience) Benefits include paid vacation, 12 holidays per year, paid sick days, Bar dues, and medical/dental insurance.
Must have a valid CA Drivers License and insurance and the ability to drive a personal vehicle to clinic sites, and outreach events
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree from law school and active member of the California Bar in good standing.
- Background in substantive legal areas impacting impoverished communities and experience working with low-income organizations and client groups preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver on fundraising, strategies, and donor relations.
- Entry level attorney (0- 3 years’ experience) who is highly motivated and passionate about public service work, with sensitivity to those in crisis.
- Ability to convey a vision of IELLA's strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Board to fulfill mission, communicate effectively withe the Board and provide timely, accurate information for informed decisions.
- Develop and manage resources to ensure financial health through budget management, fundraising, grant writing, grant reporting and compliance, and payroll supervision.
- Work with Board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, legal action and community engagement
- Interview and counsel clients
- Work effectively as part of a team that includes attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and students/interns
- Regularly participate in clinics/workshops and community outreach projects.
- Drive fundraising and grant activities to meet and / or exceed goals
- Promote a respectful, resilient and equitable workplace
- General policies and compliance according to Board policy, applicable laws, and regulations
