Description
The Executive Director of Public Relations & Resource Development is a member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for developing, managing, and administering South Suburban College's integrated Public Relations, advancement and Resource Development plans. With input from the President and the Foundation Board of Directors, the PR & Resource Development Director will implement a multi-level strategy that will include PR and advertising, publications, media, corporate and business partnerships, foundation board development, endowment growth, major donor outreach, Resource Development and identification of new grant opportunities, crisis communications, and special events. The Executive Director is responsible for strengthening and diversifying SSC's brand, outreach, funding, and will be supported by the PR & Resource Development Team comprised of Publications, Foundation, Marketing, Public Information, and/or Resource Development personnel. With the support of the President and the PR & Resource Development Team, the Executive Director will lead SSC in raising awareness among key stakeholders and residents throughout College District 510 about the vital role the College plays in serving and educating students of all ages and backgrounds within the community.

STATUS/SALARY: This is a full-time Administrator position for 40 hours per week. Board approval is required. The salary comes with the following employee benefits: $14,156 Annual Flexible Health Benefit: • 15 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment • 16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek.

Examples of Duties
- The Executive Director will lead the teams responsible for institutional strategic messaging including developing, designing and producing SSC's print, digital, and media products, and raising the funds necessary for SSC and its Foundation to carry out the mission of the College.
- Initiate the strategic planning to include a Resource Development arm of the College.
- Provide visionary leadership for all areas of the division with broad oversight for grants, research & instructional effectiveness, and institutional planning in alignment with the mission and for the advancement of the College.
- Develop, manage, and implement ongoing planning and execution of the College marketing, advertising, Public Relations, communications, and related special events.
- Manage/direct brand imaging and integrated communication in collaboration with marketing staff and institutional strategic plan.
- Manage internal/external communications and Public Relations in support of the institution while enhancing image of the College.
- Work with the administration, academic deans, faculty, and professional staff to ensure that all marketing efforts are aligned with the integrated Public Relations strategy of the College.
- Develop written communications, messaging and content and advise senior leadership on communications strategies.
- Develop short and long-term goals and objectives for Resource Development.
- Oversee the preparation of budgets and monitoring the expenditures for departments supervised.
- Assist the President and Board with identifying, cultivating, and retaining new major donors and contributors.
- Maintain strong relationships with current foundation, major and individual givers; and develop and manage Board and donor relations, policies and procedures, and application and award processes.
- Support the College in achieving and maintaining accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association and other accrediting bodies.
- Other duties assigned by the President.
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education coupled with seven years of progressive administration experience in Public Relations, foundation/advancement, and higher education as well as proven accomplishments in areas of responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community College students and personnel.
- Community college experience preferred and experience providing direct supervision to staff members.
- Flexibility (ability to meet Board and volunteer schedules).
- Strong computer, analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Successfully pass a criminal background check.
Supplemental Information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ten year's progressive experience in non-profit board development.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge Software.
