As Executive Director and Global Head for Cell & Gene Therapies, you will have an opportunity to join the Biologics Research Center (BRC) as a leader at the cutting edge of innovative medicine development to improve patient lives.
BRC builds the biologics pipeline in collaboration with Novartis Biomedical Research (NBR) Disease Areas and Platforms via a breadth of technologies for discovery of antibody, protein, gene therapy and RNA-based therapeutics.
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist and leader specialized in viral and non-viral Gene Therapies to lead the global Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT) group within BRC. The CGT group drives a diverse portfolio of therapeutic programs and innovation for non-viral and viral cell and Gene Therapies such as CAR-T, gene replacement, knockdown and more. Through innovative cell and viral engineering and state of the art research scale production platform, the CGT group works collaboratively with Disease Area groups to broaden the use of viral and nonviral vectors into therapeutic applications where conventional biologics and low molecular weight drugs have limitations.
Your key responsibilities are, but not limited to :
Lead a team of >50 highly talented scientists on three sites responsible to drive cell and Gene Therapies to patients.
Establishes mid- and long-term goals, plan of action and implementation for the CGT team (e.g. annual objectives) in line with BRC and NBR strategy and objectives.
Develops and implements internal and external strategy for innovation of next generation viral and non-viral therapies across NBR including but not limited to novel payloads, optimized regulatable vectors and highly selective delivery to target cell types.
Represents CGT to senior NBR DA/FA and corporate leaders.
Manages the global budget of the CGT Unit within BRC.
Ensures allocation of group resources according to portfolio and platform priorities.
Sets outsourcing strategy for the global CGT team.
Interfaces with downstream development colleagues to improve the platform and bring lead candidates towards full development.
Collaborates and coordinates activities with other global BRC and NBR units.
Offer innovative approaches to scientific questions and troubleshooting efforts.
Identifies Disease Areas unmet needs
