The Position:
As the Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence at Veracyte, you will play a pivotal role in driving our AI strategy, ensuring that it aligns with our mission to provide accurate and timely cancer diagnostics. You will lead a talented team of AI experts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage AI and cloud-based technologies to enhance our product portfolio as well as enhance and optimize our business. This position requires a deep understanding of AI in healthcare and strong business acumen to drive the successful implementation of AI-driven solutions across the organization. Highly preferred candidates in the West Coast.
Responsibilities:
AI Strategy Development
· Develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy that aligns with Veracyte's mission and business goals, with a focus on leveraging cloud-based technologies.
Team Leadership
· Lead and mentor a team of AI professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
AI Technology Advancement
· Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and healthcare to ensure Veracyte remains at the forefront of innovation.
Cross-functional Collaboration
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product development, regulatory affairs, and commercialization, to integrate AI solutions into our product portfolio.
Regulatory Compliance
· Ensure that AI-driven solutions meet all regulatory and compliance requirements in the healthcare industry.
Partnership and Vendor Management
· Identify and manage partnerships and vendors that can enhance Veracyte's AI capabilities.
Budget Management
· Develop and manage the AI budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives.
Performance Metrics
· Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of AI initiatives and their impact on Veracyte's business operations.
Who You Are:
· Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
· Proven track record of leading and managing machine learning teams, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
· Proven experience in leading AI initiatives in the healthcare industry, preferably in a diagnostics or biotechnology setting.
· Experience with cloud based managed machine learning services
· Strong expertise in various machine learning techniques, including deep learning, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning.
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and relevant machine learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.).
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
· A strong publication record in machine learning research is a plus.
· Previous experience in the healthcare or biotechnology industry is preferred but not required.

The anticipated base salary range for candidates who will work in the US area is $240,000 - $330,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several objective factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation and Benefits Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
