Major Functions

The Events Manager is a critical role for the Ditch Witch organization. They oversee the presentation of the Ditch Witch Division (Ditch Witch, American Augers, Subsite and Trencor brands) at key internal and external events around the world. This key position manages all aspects of company events including trade shows, dealer conferences, equipment seminars and the annual Crescent Club dealer trip. This role provides direction to all company departments that are involved with these events and effectively leads all involved employees to ensure success. The Ditch Witch Division Events Manager manages one direct report – Event Coordinator who also runs the promotional supply program for dealers and factory personnel.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversees all events, tradeshows and special meetings for the Ditch Witch Division. This includes: budgeting, site selection, contract negotiation, registration, marketing materials, hotel and travel accommodations, audio-visual services, exhibits and labor, and post-event activities.

  • Plans and executes virtual events that provide an engaging digital experience for attendees.

  • Works closely with the promotional program for event and tradeshow coordination and giveaways

  • Manages on-site event teams, including internal staff, production staff and other vendor teams.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, dealers, partners, vendors, and other team members.

  • Leads internal logistics teams involved with every event, tradeshow and meeting.

  • Identifies new business opportunities and prepares budget estimates and written proposals to secure these opportunities.

Conference, Meeting, and Event Management

  • Strategically plan and budget for 5-8 conferences/meetings/events a year.

  • Guide and assist internal teams through the agenda planning process

  • Lead logistics coordination and implementation

  • Site selection and contract negotiation

  • Registration management

  • Written communication announcing conference and meeting details

  • Leads audio-visual team, event site coordinator and other hired vendors on all event details

  • Collaborates with marketing team to ensure all marketing initiatives are met, which could include, but not limited to: product launch/showcase, digital tactics, public relations efforts, brand consistency, dealer organization involvement, etc.

  • Utilize creative agency as needed for creation of event marketing materials and content

  • Reviews and approves all invoices, banquet event orders, etc. to ensure events are within targeted budget

  • Book and manage hotel accommodations for internal staff, dealers, and customers (assist with travel plans, as needed)

Tradeshow Management

  • Strategically plan and budget for 10-15 industry tradeshows a year

  • Manage tradeshow assets and partnership with third-party exhibit company

  • Lead internal teams to establish a show plan that aligns with organizational goals

  • Concept and design tradeshow booths according to established show plan and goals

  • Work with demand planning and sales team to coordinate on-site show equipment

  • Oversees on-site teams during booth set up and tear down

  • Book and manage hotel accommodations for internal staff (as well as dealers and customers as needed)

  • Responsible for staff registration at each show and assists dealers as needed

  • Collaborates with marketing team to ensure all marketing initiatives are met, which could include, but not limited to: product launch/showcase, digital tactics, public relations efforts, dealer organization involvement, promotional gear, etc.

  • Utilize creative agency as needed for creation of event marketing materials and content

  • Reviews and approves all invoices and purchase orders to ensure each show is within targeted budget

  • Stays current on meeting and event trends, including new technology, and contributes creative ideas and solutions.

  • Utilizes a variety of systems, tools, and platforms to accomplish goals.

  • Available for domestic and international travel up to 30%, working outside scheduled hours, including nights and weekends.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality preferred, or other business related fields such as marketing, advertising, or business management.

  • 1-3 years of industry experience preferred.

  • Must have demonstrated the ability to lead a diverse team and effectively manage multiple personality types.

  • Must be exceptionally detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage multiple, overlapping deadlines for up to 25 annual events.

  • Strong planning, organizational, communication and presentation skills are a must.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile to help the company succeed and bring all Ditch Witch event efforts to a new level.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office required, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
