Temple Beth Shalom seeks a responsive and engaging Event Host to provide support for private events and celebrations. The ideal candidate possesses outstanding people and organizational skills, is a problem-solver, and ensures excellent customer experiences. This position serves as a vital “day-of” contact ensuring that events run smoothly and successfully. The Event Host will work closely with the Events Manager, vendors, security, facilities, and Temple Beth Shalom staff, members and lay leaders.
This position is part-time and paid hourly with typical hours on Saturdays mornings, afternoons or evenings, varying from 4 to 8 hour shifts per day. Our current wage offering is a range of $25-30 per hour based on experience and skill set.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Events Manager on final details of events
- Warmly and thoughtfully welcome the celebrating family, guests, caterers, and other vendors into the Temple
- Collaborate with professional security to ensure a safe experience for all
- Attend to diverse event needs as they arise including responding to questions, providing support for on-site vendors such as catering staff and DJ, directing custodial staff, as needed, and ensuring A/V equipment is set up appropriately
- Ensure event runs smoothly and successfully for all stakeholders
- Monitor event progress and check in with celebrating family
- Send end-of-day report to Events Manager

- Ability to be mobile in order to review set-ups and to actively manage events in progress

- Ability to hear and speak in order to exchange information in person and by phone
- Ability to see in order to monitor event activity
