Position Summary
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (SLLC) Custodians provide a safe and hospitable environment for the people of the congregation and the community we serve. They maintain public and private spaces of the church, including facilities within and around the building, parking lots and sidewalks. SLLC Custodians ensure that SLLC facilities are safe, clean, functional and operational. They collaborate with members of the staff and key leaders of the congregation.
Responsibilities
- To provide a clean, orderly and safe environment at St. Luke’s Lutheran
- To maintain a safe, clean, functional and operational physical plant and property
- To enhance the physical plant and property through maintenance and upgrades
Minimum Requirements
- General knowledge of and ability to perform building janitorial services
- An ability to analyze, troubleshoot, work independently and multi task
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with staff, leadership, members and guests.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to maintain balance, to push, pull, reach, twist, turn, squat and bend.
- Ability to work at heights including ability to climb ladders including extension ladders
- Ability to perceive sound, to judge distance and spatial relationships, to obtain, recall and retain knowledge
- Ability to work in varying changes in temperature, heat, cold and humidity
Duties
- Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining assigned church facilities, including:
- public and office spaces, bathrooms and storage spaces, kitchens kitchenettes, and early child center spaces
- Toilets, drinking fountains, sinks, floors, furniture, windows, walls, and light fixtures
- Parking lots, sidewalks, playgrounds
- Other as needed
- Removing garbage from the facility on a daily basis
- Turning off lights, locking doors.
- Setting up and removing chairs, AV equipment, and other necessities for various functions
- Working with Office Staff to order necessary supplies that fall within the annual budgeted amount for church maintenance and repairs
- Performing other duties as assigned or as needed
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
