Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting by developing new work opportunities under the direction of the Business Development. The ideal candidate has an extensive understanding of renewable energy construction means and methods, understanding of civil, mechanical, electrical, permitting, and engineering requirements, and project management skills. In this role, you will collaborate with cross functional teams involved in project development and execution. Day to day responsibilities include preparation of cost estimates. This is a fast-paced role in a growing industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Providing support to the team in estimating, preparing and submitting bids in a professional and timely manner.
- Review RFP documents and generate material take-offs and labor estimates
- Arrange for Procurement of long lead time material and/or subcontractors
- Attend Pre-bid meetings when required
- Read contract documents, identify risks and areas to clarify/negotiate
- Prepare and submit final proposals and bid sheets to the customer in a professional and timely manner
- Work with management when contracts are awarded to develop a complete project package, including all project documentation, bid budget, schedule, subcontracts, etc.
- Facilitate project hand-off for a smooth transition to operations group
- Prepares capital cost estimates
- Reviews designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives, when appropriate
- Coordinates with other departments, ensuring understanding of project objectives and efficient utilization of resources
- Reviews layouts, designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives, when appropriate
- Remains current with technology and industry evolution, assuring that capital estimates anticipate the correct market conditions
- Establishes, builds and implements metrics for cost and construction estimate checks
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- Proficient with CAD and other software platforms used in construction applications
- Engineering or Technical degree preferred; analytical thinking required
- 5 years of relevant experience in this field
- Requires a working knowledge of the utility construction industry
- Understands how to read project plans and specifications
- Understands contract language and requirements
- Effective time management skills, understands how to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in project estimating and Gantt chart scheduling
- Demonstrates commitment to high professional ethical standards
- Excels at operating in a fast-paced environment, where multiple deadlines are critical
- Collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and Outlook
- Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
