The Jurgensen Companies is a growing diverse organization which is the preferred supplier of asphalt pavement, aggregate products and construction services to public agencies and private companies throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

 

The Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil Division of Jurgensen Companies is seeking an Estimating Engineer working out of our new state of the art corporate office located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Amenities of the new corporate office include a full fitness facility, outdoor walking track, large modern break room with outdoor dining, upper level outdoor terrace, and a large training center. Responsibilities

Estimating Engineer Responsibilities:

• Pursuing bid opportunities for construction and heavy civil / roadway projects (including asphalt and concrete)
• Bid preparation for construction and heavy civil / roadway projects (including asphalt and concrete)
• Relationship building with subcontractor and suppliers
• Subcontract procurement
• Plan Reading of construction and heavy civil / roadway projects (including asphalt and concrete)
• Administrative and technical management of construction projects (asphalt, earthwork, storm sewer, maintenance of traffic)
• Writing statement of qualifications, SOQ, RFP for heavy civil / roadway construction projects
• Visiting construction projects
• Engage in value engineering ideas / proposals

Qualifications

Estimating Engineer Desired Qualifications:

• Engineering or Construction Management Degree
• 1 to 3 years of experience in estimating (construction, heavy civil, roadway, asphalt, concrete, utilities, pipe)
• Experience bidding ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation), INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation), KYTC (Kentucky Transportation Cabinet) projects
• Working knowledge/understanding of Excel and HCSS Estimating Software (HeavyBid)

 

Estimating Engineer Skills:

• Must be able to read blue prints / project plans
• Excellent math skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Must have professional writing capabilities
• Ability work in a team environment

 

Estimating Engineer Working Conditions:

• Able to work flexible hours
• Overtime including evenings and weekends could be required
