HIRING: ESTIMATOR - CIVIL

Layton Services is a commercial, industrial and residential excavation contractor that has been family-owned & operated for 20 years. Our services include site development (mass excavation, building pads, sub-grade prep & more) and underground utilities (water, sanitary, storm). We are located in Newark, Ohio with the majority of our projects in Columbus, Ohio.

Open Position: We are actively seeking to hire an additional Estimator to prepare cost estimates for projects or services to aid in bidding on or determining the price of civil projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: (This may not include all of the duties as assigned)

• Read and understand bid documents, including design drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, etc.
• Provide a quantity take-off to determine quantities, scope of work and required contents of the project.
• Analyze and incorporate historical data from past projects, subcontracts, productivity reports, etc.
• Collect pricing from vendors/subcontractors.
• Based on bid guidelines, create rough project schedules
• Effectively communicate and work with company project managers, engineers, superintendents and controller
• Provide value engineering.
• Review project addendums/bulletins
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge and proven experience in civil construction and site development
• Reading of civil blueprints
• 3+ years of industry related work experience
• AGTEK software, create and comprehend.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred:

• Degree in Engineering, Civil, Construction Management or equivalent
• HCSS products
• Trimble Business Center/ GPS Experience
