Description
Fisher Associates is seeking an experienced Land Survey Instrument Operatorto join our Land Surveying Team within the Geomatics Group. The Survey Instrument Operator performs field surveying and data collection tasks while being self-motivated and able to follow through with assignments, be knowledgeable in the principles and performance of basic types of surveying equipment (Robotic Total Stations/GPS), survey computations, and field operations. This position requires good communication and client relations while working well under pressure.

The primary function of this role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships adhering to the Fisher Clientship philosophy.
  • Set up and operate a variety of surveying instruments, including total station, data collector, level, scanner, and GPS in gathering survey data for topographic, boundary, ALTA, construction stakeout, and utility surveys.
  • Cutting and clearing brush and trees from line of survey, using brush hook, machete, chain saw or other cutting tools.
  • Read and interpret various types of maps and plans.
  • Complete neat field notes and sketches
  • Maintain survey equipment. Keep it clean and dry. Report any broken or damaged equipment to the Party Chief.
  • Ensure that batteries for all equipment are fully charged on a nightly basis.
  • Keep survey truck stocked with necessary supplies and tools. Keep it swept out and cleaned as needed.
  • Keep equipment room cleaned and organized. Keep track of supplies (flagging, paint, caps, lath, rebar, etc.) to ensure an adequate supply is on hand.
  • Effectively coordinate with other sectors and service lines to as necessary to fulfill project needs.
  • Assisting the Party Chief as directed.

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • 1-3 years of surveying experience preferred.
  • Experience in operating electronic Survey Instrumentation including total stations, levels, GPS, and data collectors.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical principles, Land Surveying terminology, and field survey methods and techniques.
  • Customer Service and Client Relations experience preferred.
