Join our dynamic team at Summit Veterinary Referral Center as a Department Manager and play a pivotal role in providing expanded leadership and support to our growing team. Make a significant impact on the lives of both people and animals by fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Medical Directors and Hospital Leadership to ensure exceptional medical outcomes, rewarding employment opportunities, and high-performance business results.
  • Directly supervise supervisors and service staff, building a team culture centered on pride, recognition, support, mentorship, and unity.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire for the department, meeting staffing goals.
  • Lead training and development initiatives for your team to enhance triage and medical care capabilities.
  • Oversee department staff scheduling in coordination with Doctor schedules.
  • Drive continuous improvements in service performance, including staff engagement, client satisfaction, medical outcomes, retention, financial efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for the department and manage all medical inventory and equipment needs.
  • Address patient care complaints in collaboration with the Hospital Leadership Team.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Meet budgetary goals for departmental services.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources team to support all support staff needs.
  • Represent the department among the management team, fostering service integration and collaboration.
  • Oversee department-level communication and updates.
  • Collaborate with the Client Services Manager to meet the ongoing needs of the department, clients, and the hospital.
  • Create and revise protocols and policies in conjunction with the management and leadership teams.
  • Maintain optimal department staff capabilities across all days and times to meet business needs.
  • Facilitate ongoing growth, training, advancement, and career development for all service staff.
  • Lead the shaping and planning of the department to meet future growth outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of management experience directly supervising 20 staff or more.
  • Veterinary experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and staff leadership practices.
  • Ability to inspire trust and respect from staff and external constituencies.
  • Must be available to work across all days of the week as needed.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred. CVPM, LVT, CVT, or other veterinary certifications preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, practice management software, and scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Strong belief in the human-animal bond and the value of animal life.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to be active, sitting, walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, and kneeling as needed.
  • Able to work in low to moderate noise, including animal noises.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Exposure to supplies commonly used in a hospital setting within appropriate OSHA standards.
  • Risk of injury from animals.
