Responsible for assisting the surgical team before, during, and after surgery, maintaining a sterile environment.�
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments, according to instructions.
2. Helps team members to place and position patient on table.
3. Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves.
4. Aids team to don gowns and gloves.
5. Maintains supply of fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operation.
6. Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation.
7. Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation.
8. Maintains aseptic techniques.
9. Washes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides and sterilizers.
10. Cleans operating room.
11. May assist in preparing patients before surgery and in moving patients to and from the operating room.
12. Other related duties as assigned
Required:
1. High School Diploma or GED required
2. Previous acute care experience required (minimum of 6 months)
3. CMA/ CNA certification preferred

With more than 250 community pediatricians on staff and more than 100 board-certified pediatric specialists, we’re northern New Jersey’s leading specialized pediatric hospital. To meet high demand, Goryeb Children’s Hospital is currently expanding its pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and adding inpatient beds.
