JOB SUMMARY
The Asset Specialist is responsible for Orion clients' off lease and repossessed assets and the performance, sale, and liquidation of such assets. This position is established to lead, manage, and develop all aspects of Asset Management functions. The Asset Specialist is responsible for achieving the goals of the company in accordance with all laws, regulations, and policies of the company. The Asset Specialist represents Orion
publicly and serves as the key representative of Orion's Asset Management Services to financial institutions, vendors, clients, and prospects. The Asset Specialist is responsible for valuations, FMVs, and ensuring that proper sales amounts are obtained. The Asset Specialist must understand that clients' interests are paramount. They must be passionate about client success, enjoy collaborating with others, follow best practices, and possess a desire to exceed expectations. As a steward of the company's reputation and regulatory standing, the Asset Specialist upholds and advances ethical practices throughout the organization.
REPORTS TO:
VP of Commercial Collections.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures that effective repossession/asset remarketing techniques, regulatory compliance, and good judgment are carried out.
  • Ensures that all phases of asset sales and liquidation strategies are developed, that they are effective, and that they are documented and executed to maximize performance.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the collections team to ensure Article 9, Notice of Dispositions are sent to the debtor prior to sale
  • Ensures that any collateral requiring repossession is prepared for sale and disposed to maximize recovery value in a timely matter.
  • Ensures that adherence to client service levels and policies are maintained at the highest levels.
  • Ensures litigation efforts, if required in asset repossession, are effectively managed both from an expense and timeliness perspective.
  • Responsible for communicating account statuses to clients on activities related to asset recovery and liquidation.
  • Responsible for managing professional relationships: Assisting in contract negotiations with repossession companies, vendors, and asset remarketers.
  • Responsible for repossession economic feasibility. Overall cost, geography, urgency,

Voluntary vs. involuntary compared to FMV
  • Ensures remarketing strategies, activities, and related expenses are documented in the

appropriate system of record.
  • Ensures that records of all correspondence are complete, accurate, and assessable.
  • Acts as a Senior Collector when workloads allow.
  • Partners with Advanced Collection Group & Legal Team to support execution, deal

workout, recovery, and orderly liquidations.
  • Responsible for end of term management of Orion-owned and client residuals. Establishes FMV and documents source follow ups (contact with client's customer to sell or direct assets to be sent to a remarketer).
  • Performs outside audits of remarketers as directed by management.
  • Schedules equipment inspections as needed and arranges outside third party inspections and appraisals when requested.
  • Assists in company asset management strategic growth, goals, and objectives.
  • Assists in development of the asset management products to ensure profitability and market acceptance.
  • Communicates with existing clients to create opportunities to expand asset management services.
  • Assists in developing asset management product marketing plans.

TRAVEL
  • Overnight travel may be necessary for Industry events and/or Company meetings. Less than 5% of the time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Considerable knowledge of the FDCPA, OFAC, ECOA, SCRA, BSA/AML, GLBA & UDAAP
  • Proven knowledge and standards of collection and repossession practices
  • Skilled in the use of various software applications, including (but not limited to): MS Word and Excel, lease and loan software, skip tracing tools, internet tools to evaluate and establish assets values and others.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently
  • Manage multiple priorities, act decisively in all problem resolution areas, and perform under pressure.
  • 5+ years of relevant equipment financing and asset management experience
  • A strong working knowledge with a wide range of leasing products and markets covering a broad spectrum of assets and industries with a principal focus on construction, medical, machine tools, transportation, diversified manufacturing, and software equipment & technology.
  • Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics within one area. Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
  • Proven ability to establish and cultivate internal and external relationships as necessary to support function and business
  • The ability to work individually, and within a team

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent level of experience, at minimum 5 years of working in and asset management role OR equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional experience:
  • History of outstanding performance and results
  • Leadership training
  • Expertise in working with C-Level management
  • Strong relationships with repossession agents, asset remarketers and other service providers
  • American Society of Appraisers (ASA) affiliation and/or designation
  • CLFP
