Reporting to the Epic Operations Manager – Professional, the Epic Operations Reporting Analyst serves as a member of the preeminent Epic Lead reporting resource tasked with developing operational transactional data and reporting requests for Patient Financial Services supporting all One BILH Epic Professional Billing Revenue Cycle entities. Engages with users to understand their business operations, processes, and user needs. Works through assigned ticket requests performing updates or edits to existing data extracts and reporting or developing new routine extracts and reports. Participates in guiding and educating end-users on the use and interpretation of data extracts and reporting. Due to its service focus, this position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and well-developed analytic and organizational skills. This position is a resource to administrative staff of all levels, interfacing with other departments such as Information Systems, Professional and Hospital Administration, and all Ambulatory Departments and Divisions. Provides quality customer service and serves as an exemplary representative of the Patient Financial Services team.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to: 

1. The Epic Operations Reporting Analyst Report is a developer with deep technical knowledge of the Epic Reporting Apparatus, including Reporting Workbench, Slicer Dicer, Cubes, and Ramsey reporting.
2. Engages with end-users to understand the specific data/reporting needs within the context of requests. Works directly with leadership and team members in identifying business requirements and defining Epic data or reporting solutions. 
3. Has the ability to build, troubleshoot, and fix reporting content and supports ongoing operational reporting by building and editing basic to more complex hyperspace reports and dashboards. 
4. Inform end users about the underlying data and guide them in the use of these reporting tools. Conducts unit tests of own work and engages team members in second-level QA testing. 
5. Produces/Updates documentation for extracts and reporting. Keeps internal end-user documentation accurate and up to date. May assist in the testing/quality assurance of other team members' more routine solutions. 
6. Responding to assigned routine support tickets involving new straightforward requests or edits to existing queries, reports, or extracts. Tracks patterns of issues to identify training needs, underlying data or reporting issues, or potential enhancement opportunities to address business operational needs. 
7. Participate in special projects as necessary. Supports routine inquiries and editing of existing data and reports and performs routine data audits to ensure integrity. 
8. Participate in presentations to Revenue Cycle Operational leaders and end users. Engages in ongoing communications with multiple teams related to supported application and operational processes. 
9. Actively participates in recurring team meetings to discuss the status of deliverables, roadblocks, shared issues, end-user concerns, etc. 
10. Participates in routine communications with IT Epic representatives, as necessary to review outstanding support, request assistance, etc. 
11. Attends local conferences, additional Epic training, and/or internal BILH offerings. May attend external Epic forums.


Minimum Qualifications: 
Education:    
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience Required


Licensure, Certification & Registration:    
Epic Revenue Cycle Certification/Proficiency: Professional Billing or Revenue Cycle


Experience:    
5+ years of clinical, healthcare operations, healthcare information technology experience, direct system/application support/data analysis, and reporting experience involving operational analysis.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:    
Works independently, ability to prioritize, and has organizational skills a must.  Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in a healthcare setting, ability to understand business needs and processes, ability to multi-task, and experience managing small projects with defined duration and scope.
 

Key Business Relationships: Title - Purpose
1. Senior Administration - To support senior management to meet the overall goals of the Revenue Cycle Departments and Beth Israel Lahey Health professional entities.  
2. Professional Coding Staff and Managers - To guide, educate/train, plan, communicate, problem solve, and manage daily activities.
3. Physicians and Nursing - To support, educate, and improve workflow between work units.
4. Revenue Cycle Teams - To represent the Professional Billing department as necessary with reporting, feedback, and other duties as necessary.
5. Clinical and Office Managers - To work with them to the departments ensure that the billing staff is meeting the support needs of the clinical department.
6. Information Technology - To support the overall goals and Epic system build related to charge maintenance for all of the Revenue Cycle Departments
