Epic Certified Healthcare Project Manager

Job Position: HealthCare Project Manager (Full-Time Position)
Basic Function:
  • The Healthcare Project Manager (HPM) works with the Chief Financial/Operations Officer.
  • Total QA/QI Director and Information Technology Manager overall Healthcare Project management function, providing leadership, coordination, interoperability, and optimization of third-party applications (Epic, Dentrix, Appia, CareMessage, etc).
  • Scope of responsibility encompasses all settings of the organization.
  • The HPM will have intimate familiarity with the key elements of the corporate strategic plan.
  • The HPM oversees training, Information Analysis, and Reporting to assist clinical and management decision support.
  • Member of the intraoperative clinical and management team in developing Policies and Procedures.
  • The HPM has a detailed understanding and can skillfully use the techniques of system design, reengineering, project management, quality improvement, outcomes measurement, and functional analysis.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Supports the accomplishment of ChapCare strategic plans to achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance.
  • Overall Healthcare Project management function, providing leadership, coordination, interoperability, and optimization of third-party applications (Epic, Dentrix, Appia, CareMessage, etc.) processes and functions.
  • Serving as a member of the QA/QI and IT leadership team to improve support, function, and overall quality of processes within the organization.
  • Managing the development and maintenance of project management policies and procedures in compliance with the goals of the business.
  • Analyzing business needs and working with stakeholders to propose and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Educating and providing thought leadership for the introduction of change management on adopted products and process development.
  • Manages client expectations and collaborates with the client to acquire needed information and direction on their projects.
  • Performs under minimal supervision with accountability for specific goals/objectives. Works with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and others to develop performance improvement targets for the quality, service, and efficiency of the organization.
  • Provides project management services such as initiating and managing the planning, and risk analysis/management.
  • Manages an operating budget.
  • Assigns Project Managers and/or other resources to projects or programs.
  • Ensures project requirements are achieved in high quality and timely fashion within budget guidelines.
  • Monitors compliance and consistency with life-cycle, architectural, and enterprise standards.
  • Actively influences an integrated approach to project management.
  • Serves as a member of the IT leadership team to improve the overall quality of technology processes and tools within the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Education Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, business, healthcare administration, health information management, or management engineering.
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

Work Experience Required: 
  • Specific healthcare work experience in quality improvement, systems design, or project management in Epic Electronic Medical Records.
  • Five years of work experience in healthcare, and two years of progressively responsible management experience. 
  • Must have min 5 years EPIC experience or EPIC Cert.

Skills/Knowledge Required:
Demonstrates experience with and skilled use of:
  • Project management techniques or software to achieve results on time and within budget and is outcome and results-oriented.
  • The basic tools of continuous improvement, work process redesign, or reengineering.
  • Descriptive statistics and a comprehensive understanding of the appropriate applications of interpretive statistics.
  • Organization and planning, managing multiple demands, and achieving results.
  • Analytical reasoning interprets and evaluates complex information while identifying patterns and essential issues.
  • Word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Team development and facilitation techniques are applied to quality improvement or project teams to achieve their highest potential.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills with particular emphasis on presentation skills.

About Community Health Alliance of Pasadena:

ChapCare is a network of HRSA-funded community health centers that has provided medical services to countless under-insured and uninsured residents of the San Gabriel Valley for over 22 years. ChapCare provides comprehensive primary healthcare services including medical, dental, and behavioral health services to almost 16,500 patients per year. The organization utilizes state of the art equipment such as Electronic Health Records to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of care. ChapCare has grown substantially over the last few years to meet the increasing need for services in the San Gabriel Valley. New health center locations are now open in South El Monte, El Monte, and Monrovia. ChapCare also offers free health insurance enrollment assistance through a Covered California Navigator Grant. Our Certified Enrollment Counselors assist community members enroll in health insurance plans available under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) at select health centers in Pasadena, El Monte, and Monrovia. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, ChapCare has answered the call as a public health resource for our community. Many of our healthcare services can now be delivered through telehealth options such as telephone visits. In addition, ChapCare offers COVID-19 testing options for its patients and the community. ChapCare also regularly sanitizes its facilities following all safety guidelines set forth by CDC, state, and local health officials.
