Position Description
We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our team. Ideal candidates will be stable, reliable, professional, flexible, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a passion for quality and efficiency.
Staff level tasks are diverse and fluctuate with project needs. Example tasks include performing environmental compliance inspections, water quality monitoring, report preparation, data analysis, best management practice (BMP) evaluation and design, and mapping. This is a full-time position.
Remote Work Note:
Candidates must be located in the San Diego area or be willing to relocate to San Diego. Position includes field work in the San Diego area, which is mostly outdoors. All staff currently come to the office at least one day a week. Work on other days may be done remotely using a company-issued laptop.
Experience Requirements:
Typical applicants have one (1) to three (3) years of experience. Applicants with two (2) or more years of relevant experience may be considered for the Staff II level position, which accords a higher level of responsibilities, tasks, and salary.
Recent hydrology/hydraulics, storm water, or environmental consulting experience is a plus. Concrete examples of professional accomplishments should be provided in the applicant’s resume and cover letter.
Salary Range:
Entry level (Staff I): $65,000 - $71,000/year
Intermediate level (Staff II): $71,000 - $82,000/year
Skills Requirements:
The person filling this position must be able to provide creative and efficient solutions to contemporary issues in the water quality field. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service to our clients; dependability and the ability to work well with a team are important. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must be able to learn and apply relevant environmental regulations and permits quickly; existing familiarity with regulations is a plus. It will often be necessary to work in direct contact with businesses, developers, and municipal clients to implement environmental regulations, so the applicant should be capable of cultivating positive and professional working relationships. Relevant experience in SWPPP preparation, BMP design, data analysis, data management, hydrology and hydraulics modeling, report writing, and/or GIS is a plus.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or related field, and a strong analytical skillset.
