Role description:
Arcadis is currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician to support our Baton Rouge, LA office. This position consists of 100% field work, with primarily local travel to and from job sites, with some office support. This position will require work both independently and with other team members and may require periodic overtime and periodic non-local travel. This position offers an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of environmental projects and work with a great team.
Role accountabilities:
This position requires a person who is self-motivated, has good attention to detail, excellent note-taking skills, problem solving, strong verbal communication skills, and willingness to take initiative. Being able to take direction while thinking critically and creatively to guide a project to completion is also vital for success and professional growth. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot equipment or system failures. The successful candidate will be working alongside ajnd supporting task managers and project managers on multiple projects.
- Groundwater Monitoring Well Maintenance and Sampling
- Environmental Treatment System Operation & Maintenance
- Sampling of Environmental Media (groundwater, soil, surface water, sediment, air) following prescribed local, state, and federal standards
- Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (NAPL) Gauging and Recovery
- Remediation Injection Implementation or Oversight
- Subcontractor Oversight
- Site Visits and Documentation
Candidates must have a good driving record and be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods. Field assignments will often occur in industrial settings such as chemical manufacturing and petroleum refining facilities. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. Candidates must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing fieldwork, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of time, etc., and have the ability to routinely pass background checks and drug screenings (including hair testing) in accordance with client site-specific requirements. For this role, we prefer local candidates.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in the environmental industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER training
- Mechanical and basic electrical skills
- Experience with maintenance, repair, and/or troubleshooting of environmental remediation systems
- Environmental sampling experience

The salary range for this position is $73711 - $91800 dependent on experience.
