Flint Hills Resources Corpus Christi Refinery is hiring for an Environmental Technician. In this role, you will collaborate with our Compliance System Owners (CSOs), Operations, Industrial Services, and many other groups within the refinery to directly support environmental compliance. In this hybrid role you will primarily support the FHR Environmental Field Services group with improvement initiatives, systems development and implementation, data analytics and report preparation, while also supporting field execution of various compliance driven tasks such as, LDAR monitoring, BWON and waste inspections, and sampling. In this role you will have an opportunity to both improve existing workflow processes and drive transformation with implementation of new systems and technology.

What You Will Do
- Collect and analyze environmental data to assess the refinery's compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and standards. This includes analyzing air emissions, water quality, waste management, and other relevant environmental parameters.
- Provide efficient data management by maintaining data integrity, quality, and consistency and maintain data in a manner that allows for easy retrieval by impacted Environmental Program CSOs
- Prepare reports summarizing inspection data and communicate the results to internal stakeholders.
- Perform leak detection surveys using various tools and technologies, including infrared cameras, gas analyzers, portable detectors, and other specialized equipment.
- Record accurate data on leak detection findings, including leak rates, sources, and locations.
- Follow established protocols and procedures for leak repair and mitigation, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on leak detection equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.
- Collect samples for laboratory analysis. Use specialized equipment and follow established protocols to ensure accurate and representative samples.
- Perform QA/QC of data collection and performance of inspections to ensure accuracy and monitor performance of third-party technicians for overall health of the program.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant environmental regulations and industry best practices. Identify opportunities to drive innovation and work practice improvements.
- Analyze collected data and prepare reports to document environmental performance.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 2+ years' experience working in a refinery or chemical plant
- 1+ years' of LDAR experience
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Prior experience with regulatory compliance
- Experience performing data management and analytics (QA/QC)
- Experience developing of policies, procedures, tools, and forms
- Required to work at heights up to 200ft or more by climbing towers, pipe racks and other structures
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
What Will Put You Ahead
- SkyBridge or related LDAR Database experience (LeakDAS or similar)
- LeanKit or related Lean workflow management
- Lean or Six Sigma process experience
- Manage and perform FID and PID calibration
- Previous experience collecting compliance samples
- Ability to communicate with various levels of the organization
- Possesses a general knowledge of LDAR and other regulatory programs (BWON - Benzene Waste Operations NESHAP, water, waste, etc)
- Higher Education coursework or degree in Environmental Sciences, Process Technology, or related field
