The La Center School District is seeking an innovative, dynamic Environmental Studies/U.S. History teacher to fulfill our mission by serving students at La Center High School.
Our MIssion: The mission of the La Center School District is to create a supportive learning environment that empowers students to reach their fullest potential. We will do this in partnership with families, the community, staff and students to develop confident and self-reliant life-long learners who can thrive in a rapidly changing, more technologically advanced and diverse society.
Position Summary: Under the direction of the building principal, the successful candidate will teach three (3) Environmental Studies and two (2) U.S. History classes at La Center High School. The assignment will begin upon hire or a mutually agreeable date immediately thereafter and is scheduled to end at the conclusion of the 2022/2023 school year. Dates are subject to change based the incumbent's leave and the needs of the district.
Terms of Employment:
• This is a long-term substitute position
• The successful candidate must be fingerprinted. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Required Qualifications:
• Valid Washington State teaching certificate or substitute certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
• Science endorsement or a background in Science
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Salary: $170/full day; $105/half-day for the first 20 consecutive days of the assignment; pay thereafter is based on documented education and experience per the LCEA Negotiated Agreement.
Benefits: Eligible employees may accrue sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked under Washington State Law. Upon working 630 hours in a school year, eligible employees and their qualified dependents may be eligible for insurance benefits through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) which includes, medical, dental, and vision insurance and employer-paid long-term disability, Life and AD&D insurance for the employee only. Optional benefits under SEBB include supplemental Life, long-term disability, FSA and DCAP.
