Salary: $5,900.00 - $7,932.00 Monthly
Responsibilities:
This position is a Policy Coordinator for the Aquatic Resources Division and is a senior environmental planner who will lead and support rule-making efforts as well as communications and outreach materials for the Aquatic Resources Division.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Leading agency rule-making processes intended to create new or amend existing Washington Administrative Code regarding the management of state-owned aquatic lands.
- Engaging with representatives of Tribes, federal agencies, state agencies, including WDFW, Ecology, and the Puget Sound Partnership, county and city governments, as well as other stakeholder groups, on rule-making language and development as well as other policy development initiatives.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with partners.
- Coordinating with DNR Executive Policy on timely reporting to leadership.
- Developing communication and outreach materials, including online content and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resource or environmental science, natural resource or environmental planning, or public administration or public policy with an environmental emphasis, or closely related field (note: four years of experience in the above fields may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree).
AND, at least three years of professional experience in natural resource or environmental science, natural resource or environmental planning, or public administration or Environmental Policy.
OR, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience leading and facilitating an interdisciplinary team or work groups to achieve desired and productive outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex or controversial information in a way that is understandable and non-confrontational.
- Ability to manage multiple work assignments and priorities on varied time scales.
- Strong organization and time management skills to effectively prioritize workload and maximize efficiency.
- Ability to seek and act on opportunities to improve, streamline, and re-invent work processes.
- Basic use of Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,800.00 - $95,184.00 per year
