WESis seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planner Intern in our Sacramento, CA office to support our Entitlementand Ecology teams in the development of mitigation projects. The idealcandidate will be accountable, detail-oriented, organized, have excellentwriting and interpersonal communication skills, strong computer proficiency, comfortableworking outdoors, and work well in a team environment.
Theintern will work alongside experienced planners, habitat designers, ecologists,land managers, and GIS analysts to assist in the development of mitigationprojects. The intern will have exposure to and gain experience with varioustechnical reports; CEQA documentation; local, state, and federal permitting requirementsand application processes; regional conservation programs; wildlife and plantecology; and GIS methods and tools. Theintern will also have opportunities to visit existing and proposed mitigationsites, conduct biological surveys, and attend project meetings to better understandthe planning, implementation, and long-term stewardship of our mitigationprojects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and record data.
- Conduct research and analyses.
- Contribute to environmental documents and permitting processes.
- Perform field surveys and monitoring tasks on Westervelt properties.
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Thisposition is expected to be a part-time summer internship, however there may beflexibility to extend the hours or duration as reasonably discussed.
Applicantsmust be actively pursuing a degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies,Biological Sciences, or other related field at an accredited college.
The basesalary range for this position is $18.00.
