Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist I

Reporting to the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of EHS programs at Kollmorgen facility(ies). The EHS Specialist will help implement and maintain training programs relating to EHS initiatives and/or programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily:

• Responsible for maintaining the following safety initiatives so that all OSHA/VOSH requirements are satisfied:
  • Emergency Evacuation
  • Electrical Safety
  • LockOut/TagOut
  • Powered Industrial Trucks
  • Respirator
  • Confined Space
  • General Safety
  • Accident Investigation
  • Job Hazard Analysis
  • Hazard Assessments
  • Cross Training Matrix
  • Hazard Communication Program
  • Other as needed
• Responsible for oversight of the following safety programs in partnership with the Kollmorgen Maintenance Department:
  • Crane/Hoist inspections
  • Electrical installations
  • Ventilation installation and maintenance
  • Welding Safety
  • Oversee the following environmental programs:
  • Support the EHS Manager in regard to the Kollmorgen Wastewater Program
  • Responsible for completing and submitting SARA 311/312 annual reports
  • Provide support to the EHS Manager in regard to the completion of SARA 313 TRI reports
  • Support the EHS manager in regard to all aspects of RCRA compliance.
• Conduct the following inspections:
  • Weekly HazMat/Safety inspection
  • Monthly ventilation survey
  • Monthly General Safety survey
  • Post-kaizen Safety Reviews
• Implement employee safety training
• Serve on Safety Committees
• Participate in kaizen events to provide relevant safety advice subject matter expertise
• Support EHS Specialist in regard to onsite audits
• Perform Hazardous Materials Storage Area management duties which includes maintaining training & ensuring EPA Compliance.

Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary:

• BS in Safety/Engineering related field
• 3 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferable
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
• Must be motivated, self-directed and able to work well in a team environment.
• Must be able to read and work to blue prints and work instructions
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
