This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, Juneau, Soldotna, Sitka, Wasilla, and Unalaska. Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.
Anchorage/Soldotna/Wasilla/Ketchikan salary: $2,944.80 biweekly pay
Fairbanks salary: $3,032.80 biweekly pay
Juneau/ Sitka salary: $3,092.00 biweekly pay
Unalaska salary: $4,712.00 biweekly pay
What you will be doing:
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Environmental Health is seeking one energetic, proactive and motivated environmental professional to serve in a leadership position providing direction and oversight of the field implementation of the Food Safety and Sanitation Program.
In this role, the position serves as high level technical expert for all types of inspections that the program is responsible and provides leadership to Environmental Health Officers who conduct food establishment and public facility inspections. This work includes working with program staff ensure that work planning, inspections, complaint and illness investigations, permitting and plan reviews are to be conducted according to the programs policies and procedures.

This position ensures the field implementation of the Food Safety and Sanitation Program by providing oversight to field staff who work directly with regulated establishments- educating on food safety and sanitation standards, and communicating with establishment owners and employees to ensure these standards are being implemented. The working environment you can expect:
This position's location depends on where you are hired. The work environment is friendly, professional, and collaborative. The Food Safety and Sanitation Program maintains a positive team atmosphere both in-person and though group discussions on Microsoft Teams. Our staff are now working a combination of in-person (in the office) and teleworking. This position is a combination of office/desk work and field work. There are frequent opportunities to travel to other locations for inspections, audits, and training.
