Comprehensive Energy Services, Inc. is hiring a Environmental Health and Safety Manager (EHSM)!
An Environmental Health and Safety Manager (EHSM) is responsible for preventing human injury and illness, as well as promoting well-being by identifying and evaluating environmental sources and hazardous agents. In this role, the incumbent will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Essential Duties
  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environment risks
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections
  • Develops Health and Safety procedures for all areas of the company
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures
  • Establish and maintain specific data related to incidents
  • Administer all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) books and the SDS database
  • Maintenance of the Training Records and Safety databases
  • Maintain and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Actively investigate accidents and injuries
  • Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices
  • Observes workers to determine use of safety equipment (PPE) such as glasses, hard hats, respirators and clothing
  • Inspects specified areas for fire prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies
  • Tests working areas for noise, toxic and other hazards
  • Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action
  • Participates in investigating accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety program
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
  • Audit facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated
  • Keep managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Devises, supervises and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs
  • Facilitates monthly safety committee meetings and provides a written summary with action plan each month
  • Demonstrates use of safety equipment
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as needed

Supervisory responsibilities
  • Safety Coordinators

Experience and Education
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required
  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
  • Five years of related experience preferably in the construction and service industry

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT), Dictionary of Labor (DOL), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) other federal, state and local Environmental Health and Safety laws
  • Experience with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management Software (OHSAS) 18001 standards and industry best practices
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections
  • Excellent verbal, written, consensus and relationship-building skills
  • Must be available to be on call for emergencies
  • OSHA 500 Preferred
  • Work independently and under minimal supervision

Licenses/certifications
  • Valid Florida Driver's License is required
  • Incumbent must be insurable at all times by CES insurance carrier
  • Certified Train the Trainer OSHA: 10 hour and 30 hour courses
  • Confined Space Certified: Train the Trainer
  • Hazmat Certified
  • Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Certified
