Job Purpose:

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and assuring compliance to Company safety vision, principles, strategies, and procedures. The EHS Manager will work with all levels of the organization and drive consistent communication and results.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop written safety policies and procedures, manage the implementation of those policies and procedures and audit for compliance.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Company by establishing and achieving the Company’s EHS vision via effective strategies that assure management commitment and employee ownership.
  • Maintain records and properly report injury, illness, and incidents within the assigned region.
  • Directing and assisting with the mitigation of identified safety gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Developing, maintaining, and communicating Company’s EHS Policies and Procedures
  • Manage flawless execution, assessment, and improvement of the company life critical safe work practices (i.e. Electrical Safety, Lockout / Tagout, Fall Prevention / Protection, Confined Space Entry).
  • Participate in and co-lead investigation teams to determine Root Causes of incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Develop written summaries and recommendations of findings and opportunities for eliminating repeat events.
  • Perform facility and jobsite EHS audits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, customer and company rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Maintaining awareness of electrical safety and industry best practices and their evolution.
  • Proper training of employees and other qualified people. Verifying that the training is effective and documented, after having demonstrated competency.
  • Support project teams with all phases of risk assessments to ensure safe execution (job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, contractor selection/orientation/auditing, site specific work plans/permits, post-job review).
  • Evaluate subcontractors for compliance to minimum established safety standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or an Engineering field with 3 – 5 years’ prior experience.
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated experience in leading culture change and implementation of better practices.
  • Must be computer literate, including but not limited to MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work well alone, or as part of a team. Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner.
  • Experience managing electrical safety programs in a utility, petrochemical and/or electrical service company is highly desired.
  • Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) Certifications preferred (i.e. CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, or GSP), or ABIH (i.e. CIH) and/or nationally recognized electrical safety certifications, such as National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) or Utility Safety & Ops Leadership Network (USOLN) Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification are highly desired.

Preferred:

  • Experience in electrical trades or construction

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay depends on experience and qualifications. Salary Range $100,000 - $125,000
