Environmental Field Technician

Summary

Lobo Services is seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician to provide support on various environmental projects in the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico. Experience in the environmental sector of the oil and gas industry is preferred. The major focus for this position will be in the remediation of soil impacted by oil and produced water releases. Recent graduates in the various science fields of geology, environmental science, or engineering a plus but not required. Candidate must be highly motivated, customer focused and work well in a team environment. Candidate must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel and be on-call as needed. Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications is required..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Travel to various project locations
• Perform soil remediation activities, this includes operation and transport of excavator/tractor/tiller/backhoe.
• Soil excavation supervision of environmental construction crews for remediation of crude oil and produced water releases.
• Assist in sampling of various soil collection activities, using various sampling methods including bucket-type hand auger.
• Conduct supervised field work for Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessments.
• Work with Environmental Project Manager to procure supplies/equipment.
• Contribute to a ‘Safety First’ culture
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism while working as a member of a team or when working alone.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

This is not an entry level position and experience in oil and gas construction activity specifically for environmental soil assessment and remediation will be required to perform this job successfully.

No degree is required however, a B.S. in Engineering, Geoscience or Environmental Science degree desirable. 40-hour OSHA training with Hazmat preferred or training will be provided. Experience in environmental consulting or related experience preferred. Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (TX/NM) preferred. Experience with site remediation, field sampling techniques, and oversight preferred. Experience or a general knowledge with ArcGIS or Google Earth software a plus.

• Some heavy lifting required, including equipment lifting, and the ability to utilize a hand-held bucket type auger for sample collection.
• Work will be split between the field and Odessa, TX yard.
• Field work will primarily be in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico area, but some overnight travel may be required.
• Field work will be primarily outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions, and wearing FRC clothing.
• Applicants should be fluent in the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Applicant should possess basic math skills.
• Applicants should also possess basic computer skills, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently. Computer Skills must include Microsoft Windows Word and Excel.

Conditions of Employment

• Live in the Odessa/Midland area.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is a requirement for this job.
• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug and alcohol test.
• CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a part (more than 75%) of job.
• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 – 60 per week
