SUMMARY

This position uses defined procedures to pick samples from clients and brings them to the laboratory and logs samples for analysis. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Receive samples from customers and log them into the LIMS. Greet clients in a professional manner.

· Check and record sample conditions, inform the project manager or client, if necessary, of any discrepancies.

· Ensure samples are properly stored.

· Inform analysts of samples that require immediate attention for analysis.

· Answer phones when needed, respond to customer inquiries and transfer calls to the appropriate staff.

. Must be organized and maintain the receiving areas clean.

· Prepare kits and arrange shipping.

· Assure that the housekeeping in work areas is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize cross contamination.

. Pickup and delivery to client locations

· Ensure maintenance of company vehicles is up to date.

· Inform management when vehicle license or inspection is due.

· Perform various written procedures to collect, sample, analyze and pick-up samples for analysis.

· Perform field sample analysis for temperatures, DO, pH and chlorine.

· Maintain standard operating procedure (SOP) for field sampling to include sampling and procedures for temperatures, DO, pH, and chlorine.

· Maintain records of daily or with each use of calibrations for DO, pH, and chlorine meters.

· Ensure documentation of lot numbers of reagents being used for traceability.

· Maintain courteous relationships with clients.

· Fill out chains of custody appropriately and uniquely label samples before distributing them to the laboratory.

· Assure that the sampling equipment and sampling technique is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards.

· Be able to communicate with team members and clients to ensure proper sampling or collection.

· Be able to meet client turnaround times and sample hold times.

· Be able to understand and follow Food Lab protocols and procedures.

· Ensure that all work is generated in compliance with policies and the A & B QA Plan.

· Perform all work according to written SOPs.

· Provide the QA Manager, Laboratory Manager, Supervisor and/or Technical Manager with immediate notification of quality problems.

· Have a working knowledge of the A & B QA Plan.

· Perform tasks and maintain records as assigned by supervisor, QA, or management.

The Client Services & Field Technician must have good personal habits, work well with others, be technically conscientious, be able to stay on task and complete work on schedule, be able to work independently as well as on a team, and promote the principles and professionalism of the company.

EDUCATION

Minimum of High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE

Customer Service and Laboratory experience is recommended, but not required.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS

Must be computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Proficient in the Windows environment and use of Internet E-mail.

OTHER SKILLS

· Must be organized

· Must have good written and oral communication skill (English)

· Must manage multiple projects with minimal supervision

· Must be able to work flexible hours, as required

· Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs

· Must be able to handle biohazardous materials appropriately and safely

. Must have valid driver’s license

· Must have a good driving record

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will occur in a laboratory and office environment. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including, but not limited to eye safety glasses, gloves, and other personal protective equipment. The employee may be required to stand, walk or move to various locations around the office and laboratory. This includes but is not limited to shelving and retrieving samples from walk-in coolers. At the office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

This position requires proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.

UNPLANNED ACTIVITIES

This position requires flexibility and adaptability. There will be tasks assigned that are outside of this job description from time to time.

DRUG TESTING POLICY

Selected candidates will be required to take a Drug Test prior to starting working with the company. Company will pay for the drug test cost. If tested positive, Company will not submit a job offer to the selected candidate.
