Environmental Field Technician

Environmental Systems Service, Ltd. (ESS) is an environmental services firm located in Culpeper, Virginia for over 50 years. ESS currently has an opening for an entry level Environmental Field Technician. A degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field is highly recommended. Experience in Environmental Field work preferred, but not required.

Basic qualifications include: Ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to work independently and as a team member, as well as track and meet deadlines; draw conclusions from scientific data and write simple reports; create simple graphs and figures using Microsoft Excel; have a basic knowledge of Powerpoint; obtain a basic understanding of field procedures and instrumentation, storm water compliance/training; interface with clients and staff members in a professional manner.

Must be 21 years old or older, and have a valid driver’s license for a minimum of three years. An excellent driving record is required, and a current copy of your DMV record will need to be provided if considered for an interview.

This position will include, but not limited to, duties such as:

- Field sample collection of drinking water, wastewater, groundwater, storm water & soils

- Preservation and delivery of field samples to commercial laboratory

- Pond and lake studies

- Industrial storm water pollution prevention plan assistance

- Recordkeeping and writing various technical reports

- Additional duties as assigned

Salary is based on several factors, including experience, and is evaluated on an individual basis after an application has been submitted. Salary will be discussed during interviews.

Full time employee benefits include two weeks of vacation after 12 months of continuous employment, five sick days each year, and nine paid holidays.
