Environmental Engineer

Somat Engineering is looking for Environmental Engineers and/or Scientists to join our team at our Romulus, MI office! We are looking for individuals that demonstrate strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills and will contribute their environmental investigation experience with team members at Somat. They should enjoy working in both independent and team environments to execute and supervise tasks; and will plan, coordinate, perform and supervise project deliverables, provide training and supervision of junior staff, as well as assist with client communications and project management. Job assignments will include, but not be limited to:

• Plan, coordinate and conduct environmental project activities in the field and office
• Perform and supervise soil and groundwater site assessments
• Manage soil and groundwater cleanup activities
• Oversee quality control and decontamination procedures during field work
• Document closure of sites under various state and federal regulations
• Perform risk and exposure pathway assessments
• Develop conceptual site models of subsurface conditions
• Compile Documentation for Due Care and Compliance (DDCC)
• Prepare technical reports, project specifications, and operation and maintenance manuals
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and contracting documents
• Manage and track project budgets
• Perform data management and develop written presentations of data
• Assist with mentorship of junior-level staff
• Work may be performed remotely, when acceptable
• Other duties as assigned
