We have an opening for an entry-level Scientist I/TEM Asbestos Microscopist in Woburn, MA. We are willing to train hard-working, dedicated individuals!
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• TEM, SAED, and EDX; can pass proficiency testing rounds without assistance
• Thorough understanding of laboratory practices, ethics, and quality assurance requirements
• Conscientious and detail-oriented
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Communicates well
• Works well on a team with minimal supervision
• Can easily navigate Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Receiving TEM samples and processing them into our LIMS
• Creating asbestos analytical reports
• Preparing and analyzing bulk asbestos NOB samples using TEM
• Preparing and analyzing TEM AHERA samples
• Record data in our LIMS and report generation
• Perform report/sample QC to ensure accurate data
• Participate in the proficiency testing program
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment
• Assist clients in understanding laboratory analyses and results
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A Bachelor's (4-year) degree in Geology or other related sciences OR certification from a bona fide asbestos microscopy program will be accepted.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: (Helpful, but not required)
- Minimum of one (1) year of environmental, commercial, governmental, or state laboratory experience in TEM asbestos analysis.
- A basic understanding of the quality assurance requirements related to asbestos analysis.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gasses, noxious odors, and related items in a lab setting.

This role is primarily 1st shift, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm EST, but may be required to work outside of the scheduled shift to support business needs.
