Entry Level Oil & Gas Attorney

Description:

Law firm is accepting applications for an entry-level Oil & Gas Attorney in its Dallas or Cincinnati office. We are seeking recent graduates who are detail-oriented, diligent, analytical, efficient and have the desire to learn a new skillset that combines processes from the legal, real estate and oil and gas professions.
Responsibilities:

• Review publicly recorded and unrecorded documents in order to identify the chain of title of various real property interests
• Conduct legal research on real property and oil and gas law
• Identify potential title defects and curative actions for said title defects
• Analyze oil and gas leases, assignments, and related agreements
• Utilize public records and other provided resources to obtain well data, deeds, heirship proceedings, and other information
• Utilize Excel spreadsheets to calculate ownership of various real property interests
• Draft Mineral Title Opinions

Required Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor degree
• Demonstrated analytical thinking, strong research ability, mathematical ability, and excellent reading and writing skills
• Unwavering attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel along with an interest in and comfort with learning new applications
• Ability to work full time in the Dallas or Cincinnati office
