The Development Associate will participate in various Parts product management activities related to the support of Komatsu's billion-dollar aftermarket parts business in North America. The primary responsibility will be to support Undercarriage (UC) sales growth and cost saving opportunities as well as parts data enrichment activities for a broader range of products, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our parts information.
In addition, this position is expected to develop skills and competencies in preparation for future opportunities at Komatsu. This position provides exposure to our dealer network where this individual will develop a foundational understanding of the heavy equipment industry.
- Data Enrichment: Actively participate in data enrichment activities. Collaborate with senior team members to ensure the accuracy and completeness of product data, including part numbers, descriptions, specifications, pricing, and availability.
- Market Research: Assist in monitoring industry trends, customer feedback, and competitor offerings. Help gather and analyze data to identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.
- Product Support: Provide support to various areas of the product management team, including market research, data analysis, and documentation. Assist in the creation and maintenance of product roadmaps and reports. Assist in the development and management of sales incentive programs for Komatsu Dealer Sales personnel (Parts Counter Reps, Product Support Reps and Parts Managers)
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as engineering, sales, marketing, and operations to support product development, data collection, and marketing efforts. Learn to effectively communicate and coordinate between departments.
- Product Launch: Assist in the planning and execution of product launches. Contribute to marketing campaigns, sales team training, and post-launch performance monitoring.
- Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to gather feedback and insights. Learn to build and maintain strong customer relationships and assist in addressing customer concerns.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Learn about industry regulations and quality standards and assist in ensuring product compliance. Maintain parts information database- collect, create, standardize and maintain 1) parts data (descriptions, features and benefits, dimensions and specifications) and 2) multi-media (images, documents and videos).
- University degree (minimum of B.S. /B.A.) in Marketing, Business, Management, Finance/Accounting, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Analytics.
- Must have a solid understanding and interest and/or aptitude to learn about the heavy equipment industry and our products.
- Familiarity with business reporting tools (PowerBI, Sales Force, Business Objectives, Tableau, etc.)
- Ability to conduct advanced data analysis using database tools (SQL, Python Power Query, Power Pivot, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to establish effective working relationships throughout the organization, both internally and externally, which may include interfacing with Komatsu Dealer management and staff, vendors, etc.
- Must demonstrate the ability to develop strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, which includes the ability to discover market opportunities, apply abstract reasoning skills to identify and resolve problems, understand root cause, develop corrective recommendation, and implement approved corrective activities.
- PC proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and with other database and reporting tools a plus. High degree of familiarity with Microsoft Excel. (Must demonstrate mastery in Formulas, Pivot Tables, Look-ups, Data merge/append)
- Aptitude to learn other software programs required.
- Less than 5 years of work experience.
- Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.
