Role description:

Arcadis is currently seeking an entry-level Geologist to provide support on environmental remediation projects. This position will be based in Rochester, NY and will require local and regional travel. This full-time entry-level opportunity is for a motivated individual looking to begin or grow a career in the environmental field. The position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills.

Role accountabilities:

This position encompasses predominantly field work, with a smaller amount of office work (task management, data analysis, report preparation, scope preparation, and client communications). Estimated field/travel is up to 80% field and 20% office.

Your core duties will include: (See below for others you can choose from.)

• Performing fieldwork which may include drilling oversight for soil sampling and/or groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation oversight, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
• Performing remedial system operation and maintenance (O&M), and monitoring, including troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems and assisting project team in preparing O&M reports.
• Overseeing and directing subcontractors.
• Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) with planning and performing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
• Exhibiting ownership of delegated tasks, including responsibility for coordinating and delivering on-schedule tasks.
• Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.

Arcadis is seeking a candidate with outstanding communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and strong organizational abilities for this dynamic role including a safe driving record. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, team-oriented, and adept at both independent and collaborative work. They should be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, handling the physical demands of fieldwork, and displaying flexibility in approaching assignments. The role involves overnight travel (25% or more) and requires proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

• BS in Geology, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of previous experience
• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
• CPR and First Aid Training
